Apple Launches Limited Edition ‘Black Unity Collection’ Apple Watch

Apple has launched a limited edition of its Apple Watch to celebrate ‘Black History Month.’ The company is calling the new limited edition version of its Apple Watch Series 6, the ‘Black Unity Collection.” The inspiration behind the new collection is to “celebrate and acknowledge Black history and Black culture.”

The new Apple hardware has a unique aluminum case made from 100 percent recycled aerospace-grade alloy, according to Apple. It also features bespoke “Black Unity” laser-etched back crystal, and a sport band. The design of the limited edition Apple watch is inspired by the Pan-African Flag.

The limited-edition Black Unity Watches require at least an iPhone 6s with iOS 14 or later. As part of the company’s efforts to reach its environmental goals, a power adapter isn’t included in the new Apple Watch. Buyers are advised to use their existing power adapter or add a new one before checking out.

The devices are available across Apple and Target stores; although the Black Unity Collection Watch will only be available for February.

Apple Watch users can earn the limited-edition award by participating in the ‘Unity Activity Challenge.’ Participants can win by closing their Move ring seven days in a row in February.

In addition to launching the new collection, Apple will donate and support six global anti-racism organizations, including The Black Lives Matter Support Fund via the Tides Foundation; the International Institute of Race, Equality and Human Rights; the European Network Against Racism; the Leadership Conference Education Fund; the Souls Grown Deep Foundation, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.

The tech giant also said it will highlight Black-owned businesses, developers, and apps in the App Store. It will also put Black content in the spotlight of several of its apps including Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Podcasts and Apple Books.
