Apple plans launch of new iPhone, Mac, and Watch software in June 7 virtual event

Apple announced on Tuesday that its annual developers' conference will kick off on June 7, 2021. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the event will be virtual just like last year’s.

The virtual event will run through June 11 and is open to all developers to attend. It is typical of Apple to unveil its new set of products on the first day of the WWDC event. It sometimes uses the platform to introduce new Apple hardware products, especially those that will work easily with the new software features.

The WWDC is mainly for developers who build apps for Apple’s products. The platform also gives the public a first-time sneak peek at the new features coming to Apple’s devices. The software products unveiled in June are only released in beta form before the main product launch in the fall.

In 2020, Apple announced that it would no longer use Intel processor chips on its hardware, but its own in-house chips. Later, in November, the iPhone maker announced the first computers to use its M1 processors. Before that time, during the WWDC 2020, it showed the effectiveness of its new chips. Apple also announced the launch of the iOS 14, watchOS 7, its new Apple TV software, and Big Sur macOS update.

Rumors have carried that Apple recently suggested that it will announce new hardware products before WWDC 2021. New iPads are expected to be launched in April, but because Apple would want to upgrade its iMacs and other computers with its new processor, the April launch may delay till June, or before then.

When will the new iPhone be released?

Apple is known for releasing a new iPhone product every year. There are wide expectations that the company will launch its iPhone 13 by mid-September 2021.

Up until 2020, iPhone has been consistent with the release of its new iPhones. Usually, the announcements are made at the beginning of September, and the release is made after a week or two. But, there were instances were Apple launched two of its products, the iPhone X and XR in November and October, respectively.

In 2020, the release of iPhone 12 was delayed until October due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic which caused a major disruption in Apple’s supply chain. Assuming that things get back on track this year, the iPhone 13 is expected to be released in September. Analyst Dan Ives expects the new iPhones to go on sale at the end of September 2021.
