Former President Donald Trump meets with Sen. Rick Scott during the divide about the former President

During a period when Trump's role within the Republican party is undergoing agitated debates, former President Donal Trump is expected to meet with the Republican Senator. Rick Scott this week. A source reveals that this meeting with Rick Scott the Floridian who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee has been planned for weeks. But it is expected to take place during a period of intense tension between the former President and the party establishment after he pushes to route supporters' money through his political apparatus instead of the traditional Republican campaign committees like NRSC.

This visit accentuates the GOP divide over Trump's legacy in the party as it proceeds in Biden's term. Trump's support is less evident in the Senate where GOP leader Mitch McConnell and John Thune, the number two Senate Republican facing selection next year have actively distanced themselves from any association with the former President. The GOP leader's harsh statements about Trump were delivered on the Senate floor after voting to acquit him in the impeachment trial and going as far as implying he might be criminally prosecuted for his actions leading up to the January 6 Capitol attack.

This rift became more twisted after letters from Trump's lawyers addressed to the Republican National Committee and the Party's House, and Senate Campaign Arms warned against using his name to raise money. Trump also won't further post a statement on Twitter where he urged all his supporters to give money directly to his Save America Political Action Committee. In Trump's words, " No more money for RINOS. They do nothing but hurt Republican Party and our great voting base. They will never lead us to Greatness. Send your donation to Save America PAC at DonaldJTruml.com. We will bring it all back stronger than before!"
