House of Reps Backs Tinubu Fuel Subsidy Removal

The House of Representatives for the first time has commended and supported Bola Tinubu move to remove fuel subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)  also known as petrol.

The commendation came after Jimoh Olajide, a member of the house (APC/Lagos) moved a motion of urgent public importance.

However,  the news of the removal of fuel subsidy didn't come as a surprise to Nigerians because Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been sounding that ever since he started his campaign. He even included that in his inaugural address on Monday at Eagle Square, Abuja, after being elected as the 16th president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

His speech on the removal of fuel subsidy has caused panic as the price of petrol is increasing every hour. Moving the motion, Olajide said Tinubu “is a concerned senior citizen whose agenda is to favour the downtrodden for the purpose of humanity.”

He said, “The House is convinced that further legislative actions in supporting Mr President in delivering dividends of democracy will go a long way in enhancing development because he asked for it, he campaigned for it. And he is ready for the task ahead.

“The House is convinced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Tutor-General of Nigerian Politics, is concerned about the masses and has meaningful objective to utilise Nigeria funds appropriately, with budgetary reforms agenda on education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, food, security and, above all, security of lives and property as embedded in the Constitution.”

Jimoh Olajide expressed his gratitude to Bola Tinubu for his boldness to serve Nigeria with integrity and honesty.

The lawmaker also prayed the House to “appeal to Nigerians to remain patient, resilient and prayerful so that the President can deliver on his promises.”
