According to the duo, Michael Jackson was their inspiration with his break dancing, which led P-Square to create a dance group in 1997 called “Smooth Criminals”.

Their artistic talent and dancing made them famous in the city of Jos, Plateau State, in Northern Nigeria. They performed at churches, schools, events, ceremonies, and social gatherings. They finished both primary and secondary school in Jos, Plateau State.

After obtaining their first school leaving certificate, P-Square moved to St. Murumba Secondary School to obtain their West African Senior School Certificate (WAEC).

Initially, the duo wanted to be footballers but later decided to drop the passion to pursue music as they admired the American pop legend, Michael Jackson.

In 1999, P-Square went to music school to develop their skills in drums, keyboards, bass, and rhythm guitar. After they completed their program in the music school that same year, they got admitted to the University of Abuja, where they graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

However, there was lots of controversy over the death of their mother on July 11, 2012, which didn’t take long, and the duo acquired a mansion at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria, worth five hundred million naira.

In 2016, P-Square had a misunderstanding due to their elder brother Jude Okoye's mismanagement of their record labels and decided to split. This rift broke after a solid 18 years of being together.
