Jason Weaver's Early Life and Career


Jason Michael Weaver was born July 18, 1979 in Chicago Illinois to Marilyn “Kitty” Haywood and Robert Lincoln Weaver. His acting career kicked off in the early 90s with films such as “The Kid Who Loved Christmas,” “The Long Walk Home,” “The Jacksons: An American Dream,” and “Brewster Place.”

His acting career officially kicked off with an early role on Oprah Winfrey’s 1990 television series Brewster Place. In 1992, he played the role of teenage Michael Jackson in the miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream. Between 1993 and 1994, he starred on television sitcom Thea, and between 1997 -1999 he starred in another sitcom Smart Guy. Weaver provided the singing voice for young Simba is Walt Disney’s The Lion King (1994).

In 2002, Weaver starred in Drumline, alongside Nick Cannon. He secured a role in a 2004 film The Ladykillers. In the same year, he was featured in the song “One Call Away”, and the music video which also featured Keshia Knight Pulliam and Phillip “Hot Sauce”.

He has also starred in other movies including “ATL” (2006), “Jada” (2008), “Love for Sale” (2008), “Diary of a Champion” (2008), “Lottery Ticket” (2010), “The LeBrons” (2011), “He’s Mine Not Yours” (2011), “Timothy Hodge Show” (2011), “Dysfunctional Friends” (2012), “Note to Self” (2012), “Wal-Bob’s” (2014), “Infidelity” (2015), “Blackish” (2016), “Unfaithful” (2017), and “Boomerang” (2020).

Weaver’s music career kicked off in the mid-90s, releasing his debut album entitled Love Ambition on June 25, 1995. He later released two other versions of the song “Stay with Me”.
