More problems for Zenith clients as the bank suspend international transactions

Zenith bank has announced that it is suspending international transactions for its clients, the spending hold will only apply to Naira ATM cards as of now and there is no news that the Dollar card won’t see spending suspension either.

A number of banks have made the move to suspend international spending and Naira cards, however, Zenith is the newest Nigerian bank to follow the same process and this means that the new change will be effective as of January 9th, 2023.

The bank did not give a reason for this action and this will mean that Nigerians have to find another way to pay for items from the overseas marketplace.

Notice to customers: Zenith Bank in a notice to its customers on Thursday said:

  • “Please be informed that you will be unable to use your Zenith Bank Naira cards for International Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cash withdrawals, POS transactions, and web transactions with effect from Monday, January 9th, 2023.
  • “If you have International spending requirements, simply visit any of our branches and request a foreign currency debit or prepaid card, which are available in US Dollars, Pounds, and euros variants.”
