President Bola Tinubu Inaugurated the Geometric Power Plant Worth $800 Million

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the Geometric Power Plant in Aba. This project is said to have been initiated by a former Minister of Power, Barth Nnaji.

Mr President, alongside his visit, inaugurated three roads that were said to have been rehabilitated by the Abia State Governor, Alex Otto. Omoba, Jubilee, and Queens Street are all in Aba.

However, Mr President was heavily represented by his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima, when he gave a speech after launching the Geometric Power Plant. Said, "This project bears testimony to the power of dreams," adding, "Today in Abia, we saw the testimony of good leadership".

Governor Otto also commended the project, describing it as a result of the power to dream, stating that with the power project in Aba, the city will now attract national and international businesses.

The governor warned the company against customer extortion, urging the power company not to take undue advantage of their monopoly.

Also in attendance was the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who said,

"The Integrated Aba Power Project is a sign that the long-time power problem in Nigeria will be resolved, calling on the Aba people to secure the project.

"An end is coming to estimated billing. There will no longer be estimated bills, as consumers will now know what he is paying for".

During the opening of the address, the proprietor of Geometric Power, Barth Nnaji, described the project as magnificent and "a child of necessity," which took a period of 20 years to realise.

While thanking those who assisted in realising the project, Nnaji stated that the Geometric project cost him $800 million and pleaded with the Federal Government to help with a reliable gas supply.

In the President's speech, Shettima said the presidency is proud of the Abia State governor "for his developmental strides" in the state.

"Within the last nine months, people of Abia State have witnessed a change in their fortunes. Abia is working, and we are proud of Alex Otti's accomplishments. He has brought to bear his wealth of experience, intellect, and exposure to the development of Abia State," he said.

Mr President talked about the quality of unique leadership, which is paramount to the development of the society, and also appreciated Alex Otto for his humility and the developments he has brought to the good people of Abia.

Responding, Otti said the commissioned roads were strategic and built to last.

"These roads were built to last. When we do this, we want to give the power back to the people. We want to give access to you. We want you to go back to what you do and what you know how to do without any obstruction, and that is why we have promised that every part of Aba must be touched," he said.

Otti thanked the President for the support he has given his administration since he assumed office, assuring the state's people that his administration would fulfil his promises.
