Someone in Mexico threatened USA plant safety inspector and that forced the US to stop all Avocado imports

The United States of America does not condone any threats towards its citizens, staff, or any government officials and Mexico will now have to deal with the consequences. According to reports, the U.S. suspends all Mexican avocado imports after threats to the U.S. inspector.

Most of the foods that Americans eat are imported and this means that the federal government makes sure to inspect all food coming into the country, especially the perishable goods.  This is how the U.S can catch bad food coming into the county and are able to stop it from getting into America so people would not get sick by it.

Today, Mexico acknowledged that the U.S. government suspended all imports of Mexican avocado until further notice after a U.S plant safety inspector in Mexico received a threat.

Mexico's Agriculture Department said in a statement.

"U.S. health authorities...made the decision after one of their officials, who was carrying out inspections in Uruapan, Michoacan, received a threatening message on his official cellphone," the department wrote.

The association did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the ban, which hits an industry with almost $3 billion in annual exports. However, avocados for this year's Super Bowl had already been exported in the weeks prior to the event.’ - CNBC
