Sony Pictures Partners with MTN Nigeria to launch ‘Sony One’ app


Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has announced the launch of its Sony One app in Nigeria in partnership with MTN Nigeria.

The Sony One app will make available a selection of SPT film and television programs through special MTN mobile data packages. Users will be able to stream and rent blockbuster movies through the app at an affordable process. New users will be given a 3-day free trial on the platform. The partnership is part of MTN’s initiatives to establish a superior digital experience for its customers.

“Today’s launch marks the first step in an inspiring journey for SPT: we have spent a couple of years reviewing and evaluating effective ways to serve our excellent SPT content to, and engage with, this hugely important continent,” Rossiter said.

He added that SPT was excited about launching the platform in Nigeria, with MTN as its partner.

Srinivas Rao, Chief digital officer MTN Nigeria said the company is proud of its association with Sony Pictures Television. He added that the partnership will align with MTN’s “GoodTogether philosophy” as its customers will be more assured of “quality international content, including movies, music and favorite shows all in one app.”

The app features 4 plan categories including streaming bundles, binge plans, rental plans, and content only plans – each serving a special purpose. Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) blockbuster titles movies currently available for rent on Sony One include ‘Angry Birds 2’, ‘Bad Boys for Life’, ‘Bloodshot’, ‘Black & Blue’, ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’, and ‘the Equalizer’.
