Soulja Boy launches exotic cannabis brand

Rapper Soulja Boy has announced the launch of his new exotic cannabis brand in partnership with Grizzly Peak, an indoor cannabis company, according to Businesswire on Thursday.

The announcement of the new business venture follows off the rapper's 31st birthday. Soulja Exotics will sell 3.5 grams of medically treated cannabis, with the "Grease Runtz" as the first release. In a statement, Soulja Boy explained how he had been in search of a worthy cannabis company that would bring his product to market.

"Grizzly Peak grows their medicinal quality cannabis indoors in coco fiber giving it smooth inhale and exhale," the rapper said. "I have so much going on in my head, I use weed to help me relax better so I can focus on my music, videos, and other entertainment businesses. After trying many of their products, I was convinced that these guys are top growers who can consistently deliver the type of high I have been looking for."

The smoking experience with Grizzly Peak encouraged Soulja Boy to partner with the indoor cannabis company. He also made it clear that the weed products will be launched exclusive and only limited products will be available.

Matt Yamata, co-founder of Grizzly Peak, in a statement expressed the company's excitement to collaborate with Soulja Boy. He added that the company was already in "development of other exclusive and innovative cannabis products that meet his needs and the smokers he connects with." He consider's the partnership with Soulja Boy as a bigger part of the company's strategy to connect with more smokers through their interests and lifestyle.

Grizzly Peak Soulja Exotics will launch this week and will only be available for purchase at exclusive legal cannabis dispensaries in California such as Long Beach Green Room, Harvest House of Cannabis, STIIIZY, Cookies and Stinky Leaf & Firehouse.

Although Soulja Boy claims to be the first rapper to venture into this business, there have earlier reports of other other entertainers including Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, and Method Man, who have also launched their own cannabis brands.

The cannabis industry has become a legal avenue of revenue generation for many rappers, and more of them are getting involved with the business. Rapper and businessman Jay-Z was first reported to launch a cannabis brand as a rapper. The high-end cannabis brand, Monogram launched its first products in California, December 2020, with the company's flagship product a 1.5 gram joint rolled by "highly trained artisans."

Other than making profits, these rappers' investment in cannabis is all bringing the weed business and money back to black communities who have the highest number of weed convicts and ex-convicts. Jay-Z's cannabis company is a typical example of a weed company giving back to black communities in a social justice program created to give 2% of its net income every year to invest in minority-owned cannabis companies.
