Three people confirmed dead following a Fire incident at BUA cement PLC

BUA cement announced to Nigerians the isolated fire accident at a diesel storage tank farm located in Sokoto, one of their factories. The fire accident occurred on the 18th of March 2022 while Their routine maintenance was going on one of the storage tanks by a third-party contractor.

 

The company's emergency management and mitigation services were alerted when the accident occurred. They were able to curb the fire outbreak. However, three people were confirmed dead during the incident.

 

However it should be noted that a worker at the factory, whose name is Sambo, said that the explosion occurred when some staff at the Engineering section carried out welding repairs on a diesel truck.

 

The village head of Illela Babba where the factory is situated, Umaru Alhaji -Sani, said the explosion was terrifying.

He said he felt the entire community would be destroyed by Hades.

“We heard that it was while some of their workers were welding some of their working tools. there was a fuel or diesel truck around the place. Some of the workers are my people (from the community) and they told me that several people lost their lives in the explosion,” he said.

 

Abdul Samad is the founder and chairman of BUA. The company started operation in 2008 through its fluttering cement terminals. That was formulated precisely for bulk and bag cement uploading.

 

Moreover, in 2009, the BUA group obtained the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, CCNN (Sokoto Cement), and the Edo Cement Company to boost and improve the metric tonnes of annual cement production in the country.

 

In 2020, BUA Group strengthened its cement policies and listed BUA Cement Plc on the Nigerian Stock Exchange with a total combined installed capacity of 8million map and a market capitalization of N1.18trillon (US$3.3bn), which make it the second-largest cement producer in the Nigerian market and the largest cement producer in the North-Western region of the country.
