A Submarine is missing and some very wealthy people are in it

A five-person crew on a submarine got missing on Sunday morning. The submarine named Titan is owned by OceanGate Expedition, a company that deploys submarines for deep-sea exploration. It submerged on a dive to the Titanic ruins and it lost contact with the crew of the Polar Prince research ship about an hour after submerging.

The submarine was said to be lost in a region approximately 900 miles East of the Cape Cod, in North Atlantic, within a body of water with depths of approximately 13,000 feet. The submersible has enough air to last the few people on board for 96 hours. It held less than 40 hours of breathable air left as of Tuesday.

Who Are the Missing Passengers in the Submarine?

The confirmed missing passengers are Harnish Harding, a British businessman, Pakistani businessman Shahzad Dawood and his son, French Explorer Paul-Henri and the CEO of OceanGate the company that operates the vessel, Stockton Rush

Hamish Harding

Harnish Harding is the chairman of an aviation company called action aviation. This company sells aircraft to international corporations, celebrities in the entertainment and sports industries, heads of state, and fortune hundred companies. In the British press, he is referred to as a billionaire although it has not been established by Forbes as one of the richest people.

Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman Dawood

The 48-year-old is the vice chairman of Dawood Hercules, an investment company based in Karachi, Pakistan. He has been part of his family’s business, Dawood Group for years where he is one of the board members. His son, Suleman Dawood a 19-year-old is also part of the Dawood Hercules group. They reside in the  United Kingdom with family.

Paul-Henri Nargeolet

According to the OceanGate website, Paul-Henri is known as a Titanic Expert. Leading about six expeditions to the Titanic ship wreckage earned him the title of being Titanic’s Greatest Explorer. He directs underwater research for RMS Titanic, an American organization that has the right to organize exhibitions featuring the wreck and artifacts from the ship.

Stockton Rush

Stockton Rush is the CEO of OceanGate, the company that led this missing submarine expedition. He founded OceanGate in 2009 where he has served as the overseer of the company’s financial and engineering strategy.

 

 The Missing Submarine: Search and Rescue Mission

A search and rescue mission started on this task the moment the submarine went missing. The news broke out on Monday morning and until now, the search operations are still searching. It has been reported that a Canadian aircraft detected a sound underwater in the North Atlantic Ocean. The noise which was heard every 30 minutes prompted the remotely operated vehicles to search for the origin of the noises.

The search for the missing submarine has intensified as the concern for the supply of oxygen grows. As of Tuesday evening, 12,0000 square miles have been searched and the search is still ongoing.

Also, the use of underwater robots has been deployed to search within the area of the wrecked Titanic. The US military has also been involved in the search using C-130 aircraft and C-17 transport planes and by providing patrol aircraft and surface ships, according to the Canadian military. The search is ongoing as of now.
