Passengers of Submerged Submarine, Titan Confirmed Dead After Implosion

It has been announced by OceanGate that all the passengers of the submerged submarine are dead. The U.S. Navy confirmed that the submarine imploded on its way to the Titanic wreckage they planned on visiting. The submarine named Titan was said to have lost contact with the mainland shortly after it submerged on Sunday, June 20.

Officials state that the U.S. Navy secret microphones underwater detected the implosion sound. It was after the OceanGate Submarine was declared missing on Sunday that the Navy launched its acoustic detection system to start the search for the missing submarine. It has been reported the sound was heard near where the debris is located on Thursday some 500m away from the shipwreck.

The search robots on the search and rescue mission found the missing submarine debris scattered on the floor of the ocean on Thursday confirming that all the five passengers of the submarine are dead.

What It Means for the Submarine to Implode

Although similar to an explosion, the implosion of the submerged submarine could mean that the vessel experienced a sudden loss of structural stability and the water pressure drove the submarine to collapse inwardly on itself. The human body would not have been able to survive the inward collapse of the submarine and so this confirms their death.

Were There Safety Measures in Place Before the Takeoff?

Experts are not sure how the submarine imploded or the exact time it is but they think it happened immediately hence, the reason the submarine was never found. It could have also been shortly after it lost all forms of communication. Some think the submarine wasn’t built with good and quality materials and with low-tech as a former subcontractor said. Also, it has been alleged that OceanGate has once been sued over the firing of staff that raised safety concerns about the submarine. A former Royal Navy Submarine captain, Ryan Ramsay suggests that there was probably a defect in the pressure hull of the submarine or the bolts used in securing the submarine outside failed and caused the pressure hull to collapse.

The passengers wanted to explore and collect artifacts from the Titanic wreckage and each paid $250,000 to ride on the submarine for their exploration. OceanGate described them as true explorers and men who had a strong passion for adventure and exploration. But sadly, they have been confirmed dead due to unforeseen circumstances. Their families have since been notified of their deaths. The coast guard is currently unsure if their bodies would be recovered.
