Biography of Pastor Umo Eno Akwa Ibom State Governor-elect


Biography

The Land Of Promise, a proud of the South-South Region of Nigeria and home to over six million people recently conducted its governorship election and Pastor Umo Eno, was chosen to lead Akwa Ibom State for the next four years.

Early life and Education

Umo Eno was born in Ikot-Ekpene in the Nsit-Nbium Local Government area of Akwa-Ibom State on the 10th of May 1964. 

He was brought up in an average Nigerian family household and had his primary and secondary school education in both Lagos and Akwa Ibom states before securing admission into the prestigious University of Uyo, In Akwa Ibom state to study Public Administration, he bagged a master's in the same field and school after his bachelor's degree.

Leadership and Political Career

Umo Eno's brilliance led him to start his career in the banking sector when started working with Union Bank Nigeria after his secondary school education, before moving on to work in Bertola Machine Tools Limited and later Norman Holdings Limited in 1990, where he grew professionally and rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Harnessing his leadership skills with an entrepreneurial mindset, Umo Eno Founded the Royalty Group in 1997, a company with a business interest in oil and gas, hospitality, and manufacturing, which currently boasts over 500 direct workforces. 

With assets in all interest sectors, such as the Royal Hotel and Recreational Limited in Eket Akwa Ibom State, Hospital Connect Magazine, and The Appetizer Magazine. He is also a published author and editor with several leadership and Christian books in his name. He is also a contributor to Christian Journals and a public speaker. 

"The Governor" as he is fondly called among his workers was an ordained preacher and pastor at the All Nations Christian Ministry International, due to his leadership skills, love for the people, understanding of scripture and matters of Christendom, and commitment to community building.

Pastor Eno was appointed Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Hotel and recreation board between 2004 and 2007. He was the appointed commissioner for works and housing by the outgoing governor Udom Emmanuel where he later stepped down to run for the governorship position.

On March 18th Governorship polls in Akwa Ibom state, under the flagship of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Umo Eno was victorious.

Having pulled a total of 354,348 votes to beat his closest opposition Akpan Albert Bassey of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) who amassed 136,262 votes, he was declared the winner and the Governor-Elect.

Pastor Umo Eno is a humble and generous man whose impact on society is well known before he became governor says the people as they celebrated his victory on the streets of Uyo. 

After the election when he was visited by the inter-party advisory council IPAC, Pastor Eno humbly said "This is the beginning of a healing process, elections are over and we must work together to develop our state"

Career Goals and Personal Life 

Pastor Eno who is a proud supporter of the outgoing governor Udom Emmanuel, Praised him for his accomplishment with Ibom Air the Airline company of Akwa Ibom state, calling it "a groundbreaking achievement" and hopes to pull off similar feats.

He is married to Pastor Mrs. Eno, and blessed with six children and a grandson.

As of the time of his election, Pastor Umo Eno is pursuing a Ph.D. program at the University of Uyo in Public Administration.
