Biography of Sheriff Oborevwori


Retired Honorable Sheriff F.O Oborevwori (JP) was born into the family of Chief and Mrs. Oborevwori in Osubi, Okpe local government of Delta State Nigeria on Wednesday the 19th of June 1963.

Education.

He attended Alegbo primary school 

Aladja Grammar School in Aladja and later 

Ogbareki Grammar School in Delta state for his childhood education 

He proceeded to study political science at the famous Ambrose Ali University (AAU) Ekpoma in Edo State Nigeria where he secured a bachelor of Arts degree in 2004.

Sheriff then went international and bagged certificates from the Alliance Manchester Business School as a leading executive and the renowned London School of Economics and Political Science in leading inclusive development 

He also possesses a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Delta State, Abraka

Political Career

Even though Rt Hon Sheriff has been nursing a political career, his first taste began in his community in Osubi where he was elected community chairman from 1996 to 2003, while he was also the supervisory councilor for works in Okpe Local Government of Delta State.

He came into the limelight when he was elected as a Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Development in 2003 and later Special Adviser on Land Security. Due to his performance, he advanced to become the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Security between 2012 and 2014.

In 2015 he was elected as the Executive member of the State's House of Assembly, Representing the Okpe constituency under the flagship of the People's Democratic Party.

Following the impeachment of the then Speaker of the House of Assembly in Delta State Rt Hon Monday Igbuya on May 11, 2017, Honorable Sheriff Oborevwori was elected speaker of the house and was subsequently re-elected when he won the election to represent the Okpe Constituency for the Second Term.

Governorship Election

Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori 60 years old, won the People's Democratic Party governorship primary election to replace the outgoing governor of the state Ifeanyi Okowa, before eventually winning the Governorship race for the State after the state's governorship election was conducted on the 18th of March 2023.

Having pulled 360,234 votes compared to 240,229 by his nearest opposition and also over 25% of votes in 2/3 of all the Local Governments in the State. Sheriff was declared a winner and the Governor-Elect of Delta State.

Personal Life

Sheriff is loved by many and it was evident when he went to celebrate his victory at the state house church, people declared him the right person to continue from where the previous governor stopped because he was closer to the people and he often made himself available to everyone.

He is a devout Christian, a husband to Mrs. Oborevwori Tobore, and a Father.
