What is Sesame Seed?

Sesame seeds are small, oil-rich seed that is native to Africa and the Middle East. They have been cultivated for thousands of years in these regions and were even used as currency during ancient times. 

Today, sesame seeds are grown predominantly in Nigeria, Tanzania, India, Sudan, Myanmar, China, Mexico, Ethiopia, Burma, and Guatemala.

India: the price of sesame seeds in India is around $1,910 to $2,000 per ton and $1.91 per kg

Nigeria: In Nigeria, the price of sesame seeds is sold at around $1.35/kg and up to $700 per ton within Nigeria and can go as high as $2500 at the export rate.

China: the price of sesame seeds in China is currently at $18/kg and between $2,200 to $2,400 per ton.

Myanmar: the recent price of sesame seeds in Myanmar is 2.8 United States dollars and between $1700 and $2400 per ton.
