Man Arrested With Deadly Weapons Near Kamala Harris’ Home and his name is Paul Murray



An armed man was arrested outside Vice President Kamala Harris' official residence, the Naval Observatory, on Wednesday. 

 

According to The Washington Police Force, the 31-year old man Paul Murray was found in possession of ammunition and a rifle. He had 113 rounds of ammunition, an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, as well as five 30 round magazines.

 

He's currently facing several weapons and ammunition charges for carrying a dangerous weapon, carrying a rifle, and owning unregistered ammunition.

 

According to a spokesperson for Washington's Metropolitan Police, there was a region-wide intelligence bulletin from Texas issued for the suspect, which prompted law enforcement to be on the lookout. He was apprehended at approximately 12:12 pm, 3400 block of Massachusetts Avenue.

 

 No member of the VP's family was present at the residence during this, as they have been residing at the president's official guest house, Blair House, while renovations are being done in the Number One Naval Observatory Circle.

 

Details of the intelligence bulletin from Texas, leading to Paul Murray's arrest are currently unavailable, as well as his reasons for being armed in the area.


Paul Murray, 31 is from Texas, he is also a veteran and this means he is very good with weapons, he was arrested outside Vice President Kamala Harris’ DC home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. 

 

According to ABC News, Paul Murray’s mother called the Capitol police to report his son following her son’s comments that she thought were worrisome.  


 

The Brazos County Sheriff's Office released the following statement:
"Paul Murray was taken into custody today by law enforcement officials in Washington D.C.

The Brazos County Sheriff's Office has been in contact with Paul Murray over the past two weeks at the request of family members due to his behavior. There were no criminal violations found, but our agency continued to monitor the situation because of concerning behavior and statements, as well as, information that Murray may have been in possession of weapons.

Deputies, working with the family and health care providers to obtain a mental health evaluation, received information that Murray may have been traveling to Washington D.C. We communicated that information with our local and federal partners, in an effort to ensure the safety of all involved.

Sheriff Dicky is grateful for the efforts of all the agencies that took part in this event. It is through these efforts to share critical information that situations like this can be resolved without harm to anyone. Protecting our community is the highest priority of the Brazos County Sheriff's Office."


Paul Murray is still in custody and awaiting trial.
