Prince Harry and his spouse Meghan Markle's love story has been an incredible journey. The prince confirmed in an interview that when he first saw Meghan, it was love at first sight.

Considering the fact that love takes time to grow, I guess the two had a beautiful connection when they first met. So how did Prince Harry and Meghan meet? Harry, being free, revealed that he met Meghan through a mutual friend in July 2016. 

How did Prince Harry and Meghan meet?

In the first episode of the Netflix series “Harry and Meghan”, the Duke of Sussex said that he first met his wife through an Instagram post on a mutual friend account during the summer of 2016. In his words, he said: “Meghan and I met over Instagram. I was scrolling through my feed, and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them; it was like a Snapchat.”

Adding to that, Meghan said: “That whole thing, the dog ears. That's what he saw of me.” But even through that puppy filter, Harry said, “That was the first thing, I was like, ‘Who is that?'”

Harry went on to ask his friend to find more information about the woman with the dog ears, and that friend emailed Meghan to let her know that the prince had asked about her. She said that was cool, but she asked about the prince's handle to know more about him instead. Meghan confirmed that she wanted to see how the prince behaved rather than hear from other people. She said: “I asked if I could see his feed. That's the thing when people say, ‘Did you Google him?’ No, but that's your homework. Let me see what they are about in their feed. Not what someone else says about them, but what they are putting out about themselves.”

Where Did Prince Harry and Meghan Have Their First Date?

In the docuseries, the Duchess talked about their first date, which took place at the Soho House in London. Meghan revealed that on the first date, Harry was late, and that alone got her thinking that he was “one of the guys with so much of an ego that any girl would sit around and wait for a half hour for you.” But as soon as he walked through the door, she realized how wrong she had been, as he was “genuinely so embarrassed” about being late.

In the same episode, Harry said that he knew Meghan was the right person, considering the attributes she shared with his late mother, Princess Diana. He said: “So much of what Meghan is—and how she is—is so similar to my mom,” he said. “She has the same compassion, she has the same empathy, and she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her.”

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Meghan said it was Harry's strength that gave her strength during the media backlash. She said: “It has its challenges, and it comes in waves—some days it can feel more challenging than others,” she said. “And right out of the gate, it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me and, of course, my boyfriend’s support.”
