UBA bank in Nigeria appoints its first female CEO and her name is Abiola Bawuah

The United Bank of Africa(UBA) appointed its first Female CEO and her name is Mrs. Abiola Bawuah. She will be in charge of UBA bank operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.  Also, she will be reporting to Tony Elumelu, and she will be in full charge of the bank's important decision-making as UBA began to expand all over the world. 

 

Mrs. Abiola Bawuah’s former position before joining UBA as a CEO

 

·      Business Relationship officer at Standard Chartered bank

·      Relationship manager a CAL Bank

·      Strategic African Securities as an authorized dealing broker

·      an investment officer at Bentsi-Enchi and Letsa (now Bentsi-Enchil, Letsa, and Ankomah) law firm.



 

UBA is focused on equality, Mrs. Bawuah joined UBA as the CEO and which makes her the top female executive director at the company.  The bank now has 8 top female executives. 


UBA Group’s Board Chairman, Mr. Tony Elumelu, said:

 

“Abiola has contributed significantly to the growth of UBA Africa for close to a decade. She brings a wealth of experience in commercial banking and stakeholder engagement. It also gives me great pleasure that the UBA Group Board has now become a majority female board with her appointment.”
